TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Alabama shortstop Jim Jarvis is set to make his Major League Baseball debut Wednesday for the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves posted Wednesday's lineup for the team's matchup with the Seattle Mariners, with Jarvis set to start at shortstop and hit ninth in the order.

Jarvis, who played at Alabama from 2020-23, becomes the second former Crimson Tide player to reach the big leagues this season, joining Connor Prielipp.

He is the 74th player in program history to attain Major League status.

The California native earned the promotion after a strong start with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers, where he posted a .305 batting average with a .418 on-base percentage and .445 slugging percentage across 33 games this season.

Prior to his call-up, Jarvis appeared in 279 minor league games, compiling a .252 average (256-for-1,015) with 55 doubles, six triples, 12 home runs and 124 RBIs.

Jarvis was selected in the 11th round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers before being traded to the Braves on July 31, 2025.

During his four-year career at University of Alabama, Jarvis appeared in 196 games, including 193 starts, and posted a .262 batting average (180-for-688).

Jarvis also added 22 doubles, 10 triples, 10 home runs, 75 RBIs, 97 walks and 25 stolen bases.

Known for his standout defense, Jarvis earned ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors in 2023 and was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team that same season. He also helped turn 109 career double plays, ranking seventh in program history, and recorded 490 career assists, eighth all-time at Alabama.

Jarvis finished his collegiate career tied for seventh in program history with 10 triples and ranked 10th with 17 sacrifice bunts.

Wednesday's game is set to begin at 3:10 p.m. CST.
