Former Tuscaloosa County Softball Standout Karlie Beth Beasley Transfers To UTSA

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Tuscaloosa County High School standout Karlie Beth Beasley is headed to the NCAA Division I ranks after a record-setting freshman season at Shelton State Community College.

Beasley's family confirmed to Patch that the decorated pitcher has signed with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she will continue her softball career with the Roadrunners after earning Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) All-Conference honors.

The Northport native capped off an outstanding season as one of the ACCC's top pitchers, finishing among the conference's top three in strikeouts, earned-run average and saves.

Beasley's freshman campaign was also filled with milestones.

Earlier in the season, Patch reported when she became the fastest pitcher in Shelton State softball history to reach 100 career strikeouts, accomplishing the feat in just 77.2 innings.

She also delivered one of the season's signature performances by throwing a seven-inning no-hitter against Southern Union, striking out 15 batters while allowing no hits and no runs.

Beasley will take that success to the American Athletic Conference, joining a UTSA program that finished 24-33 and and 11–16 in conference play last season.

The Roadrunners are coached by Birmingham native and former Crimson Tide softball assistant coach Vann Stuedeman.
