• Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook fire departments raise joint live-fire training building (vestaviavoice.com) — Vestavia Hills firefighters are getting a major boost with a new four‑story live‑fire training building shared with Mountain Brook, funded in part by over $1 million from the Vestavia Hills City Council. The Over the Mountain Regional Training Center will let crews practice realistic house, apartment, and commercial fires, improve insurance ratings, and help recruit new firefighters. Training in the new structure begins in late August.

• Vestavia Hills pastor honored for 50 years of service (vestaviavoice.com) — Members of the Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills recently honored the Rev. Clifford Hellmers for 50 years of ministry, including 32 years as their full‑time pastor. His Project HOPE outreach has connected the Vestavia Hills congregation with medical, educational, and housing missions in Kenya, Nicaragua, and Uganda, extending the church's local impact around the world.
