Tucson Lease Report Sept. 14 - 18, 2026 (realestatedaily-news.com) — Recent commercial leases across Tucson totaled more than 22,000 square feet last week, with new offices, retail shops, and industrial spaces filling in on the South, Central, East, West, and Northeast sides. From a new dental office at Tucson Place Shopping Center to a game shop on Harrison and bakeries on Fourth Avenue, these deals signal where new services and jobs are emerging around town.
   

2. Convicted Tucson Gang Member Sentenced to 335 Months in Prison for RICO Conspiracy (justice.gov) — A Tucson gang member has been sentenced to nearly 28 years in federal prison for racketeering tied to murders and drug trafficking connected to the Western Hills Bloods. Federal and local officials say the long-running investigation targeted violent crimes in Tucson, including homicides near Fremont Street and the Tucson International Airport, and is part of broader efforts to make local neighborhoods safer.
   

3. Tucson Montessori teacher takes students on field trips every month (kold.com) — Students at Drachman Montessori in central Tucson are heading out on monthly field trips, walking, riding the streetcar, and visiting local spots like the Desert Museum and Children's Museum. Teacher Rebecca Carreon fundraises to cover transportation so kids can learn through real-world experiences, which research links to better behavior, attendance, and test scores.
   

4. Around 100 community members discuss school closures at Tucson USD's first engagement session (kold.com) — Tucson Unified School District is preparing to close schools and is asking Tucson families to weigh in at three "Reimagining our Schools Together" sessions this week. With enrollment and birth rates falling, officials say closures are needed to avoid deeper deficits, while parents worry about larger classes, transportation, and abandoned campuses before a December 8 board vote.
   

5. Cultura X Chicano Vibez Festival @ MSA Annex – 106.3 The Groove (1063thegroove.com) — Tucson's MSA Annex will host the Cultura X Chicano Vibez Festival on October 3–4, bringing music, fashion, art, cars, food, and local vendors together on Avenida del Convento. Now in its fifth year, the event highlights Tucson's Chicano creative community and will feature a free Sunday night concert by 90s hip-hop duo Lighter Shade of Brown.
