Authorities ID Woman, 32, Killed on Foothill Freeway (mynewsla.com) — A 32-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on the eastbound 210 Freeway in Arcadia near Fifth Avenue, temporarily closing lanes and diverting traffic at Huntington Drive. Authorities have identified the victim as Caitlyn Gregorich, and report that the driver stayed at the scene while CHP investigated and later reopened the freeway.
   

2. Arcadia's beloved Monarch Donuts is closing, leaving a hole for fans (pasadenastarnews.com) — Monarch Donuts, a decades-old favorite on Huntington Drive in Arcadia, has closed, drawing long lines of loyal customers saying emotional goodbyes on its final day. Owner Jonathan Ung, whose apple fritters earned citywide acclaim, is closing as the property is slated for redevelopment and has no immediate plans to reopen, though fans are watching his Instagram for updates.
   

3. Another Horse Suffers Fatal Injury at Santa Anita (mynewsla.com) — Another horse has died from a training injury at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, marking the 12th racing or training death there this year and renewing concerns about track safety. Officials note fatalities remain far below the 42 deaths in 2019 after reforms, but the autumn meet starting Friday will unfold under continued scrutiny from regulators and the public.
   

4. 5. Photos: It's now 28 finalists vying for Rose Court (and queen) (sgvtribune.com) — Arcadia students are among 28 finalists vying for spots on the 2027 Rose Court, putting local teens in the running for scholarships and a high-profile role in the Rose Parade. Final interviews are underway now, with the seven-member court announced Sept. 28 and the Rose Queen named a month later, ahead of their Jan. 1, 2027 parade appearance.
