• Jacob Anzaldua has career night, leads Banning football team past Carter (fresnobee.com) — Banning High's football team surged to a 56–21 win over Carter as quarterback Jacob Anzaldua posted a career night with 462 passing yards and seven touchdown throws, plus a rushing score. Playing at home in Banning, the Broncos' explosive receiving corps produced three 100-yard receivers and pushed the program to its second 3–0 start in three seasons.
   

• Update: Panarama Fire in Riverside County remains 100% contained by Thursday evening (sacbee.com) — A small wildfire that broke out near Highway 243 and Mount Edna Road in unincorporated Banning has burned 14 acres but is now 100% contained, limiting further risk to nearby communities. Fire officials explain that containment means control lines fully surround the blaze, though some interior burning may continue while crews work toward full control and final mop-up.
   

• Morongo Awards $40K in Native American Scholarships (indiangaming.com) — Based in Banning, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians has awarded four Native American college students $10,000 each through its Rodney T. Mathews Jr. Memorial Scholarship. The long-running program, honoring a former Banning attorney and judge pro tem, has now provided $710,000 to 71 students, supporting future leaders in tribal law, health, business, and Native community service.
