Berkeley ferry plan gets a boost (berkeleyscanner.com) — Berkeley's long-discussed electric ferry and municipal pier rebuild just got a major boost, as the state granted "judicial streamlining" to speed CEQA challenges and potentially cut years off delays. With an estimated $106 million price tag, the project would add a new ferry terminal, plaza, Bay Trail links, safer bike and pedestrian routes, and upgraded marina amenities, with construction possibly starting in 2028 if funding and approvals line up.

- At the north end of Aquatic Park, nine cormorants dry their wings and relax at a favorite resting spot after catching lunch.
They're probably the best fisher birds that visit the lake, diving deep, outmaneuvering prey with their snake-like necks and breaking the surface… (Nextdoor Glendale-Terraceview) - I can't figure out if these caterpillars are Fall Webworms or Oak Worms.
There are hundreds of them showing up on our porch and clinging to the exterior walls. Some have climbed up to the second story. We've never had… (Nextdoor West Berkeley)
