• High school football 2026 preview: WACC Mission Division (fresnobee.com) — Castro Valley football fans can look ahead to a rebuilding but hopeful 2026 season as the Trojans move into the WACC Mission Division with four returning offensive linemen and a new junior quarterback, Brayden Lima. Coach John Trotman, in his second year at Castro Valley, expects a deep but young group of skill players to grow quickly, starting with an Aug. 28 opener at Redwood Christian. 
• One California County Is Considering a Whopping $30 Minimum Wage Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Castro Valley workers and businesses in unincorporated areas could eventually see a $30-per-hour minimum wage if Alameda County voters approve a proposed "Living Wage for All" initiative. The measure, now under study by county staff, would phase in increases starting in 2027, with different timelines for large, mid-sized, and small employers and stronger enforcement against wage theft.
