1. Survey Could Shape Chico, Oroville Bus Service (gridleyherald.com) — Chico residents are being asked to help shape future B-Line bus service through a new Chico-Oroville Bus Network Study survey, available in English and Spanish. You can weigh in on whether routes prioritize frequent service on busy streets or broader neighborhood coverage, and even pick up paper surveys at the Chico transit center and other local partner locations.
   

2. CARD announces new Hooker Oak Park ADA upgrades (orovillemr.com) — Hooker Oak Park in Chico just received several new accessibility upgrades funded by CARD's 2026 ADA improvements budget, including added and improved ADA parking, smoother concrete paths, and a new bridge to a wheelchair ramp by Chico Peppers Softball Field. There's also a new ADA drinking fountain with bottle filler at Picnic Site One to make visits easier for everyone.
   

3. Outside expert could review Chico's internal audit of police license plate readers (mynspr.org) — Chico city leaders are considering hiring an outside expert to review the Police Department's internal audit of its license plate reader program, aiming to boost public trust in the findings. The City Council will revisit the proposal Sept. 15, with a separate special meeting on Sept. 21 to discuss the internal review's results.
   

4. ChicoSol adds new reporter (chicosol.org) — ChicoSol is welcoming reporter Katherine Kihiczak to Chico on Sept. 8 as a California Local News fellow, and she'll be covering the community for the next two years. She shares early impressions of Chico's kindness, Bidwell Park, and engaged local politics, and talks about bringing multilingual, cross-cultural reporting experience to city council coverage and neighborhood stories. Her focus will be earning residents' trust through curiosity and humility.
   

5. Man accused of posing as 49ers player has ties to Chico (actionnewsnow.com) — A man accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers player and defrauding women out of $1.3 million is now known to have spent time in Chico. Local barbers recall him arriving after the 2025 Super Bowl in a Lamborghini, flashing cash and claiming to seek sponsors and train in town, including at In Motion Fitness. Prosecutors allege he cut off contact once victims' money ran out.
