Diablo 76–7 on Friday, dominating every quarter and evening their record at 1–1. Quarterback Juan Gonzalez led the way with four passing touchdowns and 52 rushing yards, and Concord now prepares to travel to San Lorenzo for a Friday afternoon matchup.
   

• California healthcare company abruptly slashes 700 jobs (nypost.com) — Health-care workers in Concord could be directly affected as John Muir Health plans to cut 75 positions across locations including its Concord facility, part of a broader wave of healthcare layoffs in California. Another provider, 24 Hour Home Care, is also eliminating 738 jobs statewide due to insurance changes.
