📰 News we're reading

1. Danville Teen's Nonprofit Expands STEAM Access Across Bay Area (patch.com) — A Danville high school student, Akshaj Seetharaman, is growing his Igniting Dreams nonprofit to bring hands-on STEAM learning kits and workshops to underserved schools across the Bay Area. With about 20 student volunteers, the group distributes custom project kits, runs community drives, and is launching a Teacher Cart program to help educators access classroom supplies without paying out of pocket.

2. Extremely Exciting Changes Planned for Former Lucky Supermarket Space in Danville Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Danville's former Lucky California supermarket at Sycamore Square may soon become a Whole Foods, with a year-long renovation proposed and plans for updated interiors, signage, and EV chargers. The deal isn't final yet, but filling this key grocery space at 660 San Ramon Valley Boulevard could restore regular foot traffic and give nearby Danville businesses a boost while offering residents a closer Whole Foods option than San Ramon.

3. Sale closed in Danville: $2.1 million for a five-bedroom house (mercurynews.com) — A five-bedroom home on the 300 block of Alviso Way in Danville sold August 7 for about $2.06 million, or $774 per square foot. Built in 1975, the two-story house includes three bathrooms, central air, and an attached two-car garage on a 10,148-square-foot lot, with nearby Royal Saint Court and Camaritas Way sales showing similarly strong prices for Danville buyers and sellers.

4. High school football top 10: Two teams crack into Chronicle's rankings this week (sfchronicle.com) — Danville football fans can celebrate as both San Ramon Valley and Monte Vista remain undefeated and firmly in the Chronicle's top 10 rankings. San Ramon Valley's explosive 52-7 win behind quarterback Cole Dawes and Monte Vista's dominant victory at Campolindo showcase how both Danville programs are emerging as serious East Bay contenders heading into another big Friday night slate.
