Carlos Dominguez transferred to Napa State Hospital for 2023 Davis deadly stabbings (kcra.com) — Residents are getting an update on the 2023 Davis stabbing attacks, as convicted attacker Carlos Reales Dominguez has now been transferred to Napa State Hospital following a judge's finding of legal insanity. Yolo County prosecutors are seeking to extend his hospital commitment beyond the initial six months, after emotional statements from victims' families and a verdict that included involuntary manslaughter convictions.
   

2. Teachers Trained in Solar School Curriculum (independentvoice.com) — Teachers from Davis schools, including Harper Junior High and Emerson Junior High, have completed hands-on training with We Care Solar to bring Solar Suitcase Learning Kits into their classrooms. Students in Davis will now experiment directly with solar panels, batteries, and real-world energy challenges, connecting STEM lessons to global issues like electricity access and future clean-energy careers.
   

3. Penn State Selected As Imagining America National Consortium Host (onwardstate.com) — Davis will briefly be in the national spotlight this October when Imagining America holds its National Gathering here as part of a transition to Penn State as the consortium's new host campus. The group connects scholars, artists, and designers focused on public engagement, so expect visiting academics and creatives in town during the October 23–25 events.
   

4. Veterinary Research Shows That Adolescents Who Read the Equines' Body Language Were Less Sad and Lonely (myvetcandy.com) — New UC Davis research finds that teens who better read miniature horses' and donkeys' body language feel less lonely and sad after brief interactions. The Green Care Lab's work suggests animal-assisted programs in schools, hospitals, and therapy centers could be more effective when they prioritize the animals' comfort as much as human well-being.
