Where to See Celebs at the 2026 Del Mar Wine & Food Festival (sandiegomagazine.com) — Del Mar residents can mingle with celebrity chefs, winemakers, and pro athletes during the 2026 Del Mar Wine & Food Festival, running September 30–October 4 at Surf Sports Park and nearby venues. From opening night at Monarch Ocean Pub to star-studded dinners at Fairmont Grand Del Mar and the massive Grand Tasting, the guide highlights where locals are most likely to spot big names and enjoy standout food and drink.
   

2. 16 New Districts Join the League of Innovative Schools (digitalpromise.org) — Del Mar Union School District has been selected to join the national Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools, highlighting local educators' work to rethink teaching and learning. This membership connects Del Mar leaders with districts nationwide to share ideas, pilot research-based approaches, and focus on more personalized, future-ready learning for students.
   

3. New bridge, wider road coming to El Camino Real (thecoastnews.com) — A major project to widen El Camino Real and replace the aging San Dieguito River bridge near the Del Mar Polo Fields is set to start in December, improving a key route used by many Del Mar drivers. Expect new lanes, separated bike paths, sidewalks, better signals, and an equestrian undercrossing tied to the Coast to Crest Trail, with work running through August 2030.
   

4. Overall Handle Increases at Del Mar, CAW Play Drops (bloodhorse.com) — Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's summer meet boosted overall wagering handle to $366.8 million after tightening rules and raising fees on computer-assisted wagering operations. Officials say the changes reduced late odds swings, increased traditional bettors' participation, and will continue through the Bing Crosby fall meet, keeping Del Mar at the center of California's horse-racing policy experiments.
