Fresno celebrates Mexican Independence Day with flag raising at city hall (abc30.com) — Fresno City Hall hosted a Mexican Independence Day flag-raising that drew community members, city leaders, and Mexico's consul to celebrate culture and history at the heart of town. Speakers, including Mayor Jerry Dyer and Supervisor Luis Chavez, highlighted how Mexican traditions and immigrant labor shape Fresno's neighborhoods, economy, and shared future across the Central Valley.
   

2. Fresno County launches early-warning real estate fraud system. How does it work? (fresnobee.com) — Fresno County has launched a new Real Property Fraud Prevention Notice that lets you request extra identity checks before any deed or title change is completed on your property. With real estate scams rising and dozens of local cases under investigation, this free, voluntary safeguard takes effect Oct. 8 and complements the state's existing post-recording alert system.
   

3. Family disturbance leads to stabbing of 3 men at apartment complex in Central Fresno (abc30.com) — Police are investigating a family disturbance at the Cedar Woods apartments in Central Fresno that left three men stabbed Wednesday night, one critically enough to be hospitalized at Community Regional Medical Center. Officers say two victims have non-life-threatening injuries, and they are still determining whether any arrests have been made in the case.
   

4. Fresno County weighs the $1.1 billion Friant Ranch plan (fresnoland.org) — Fresno County planners are again weighing the massive Friant Ranch proposal, a 2,500-home retirement-focused community planned in the foothills just above Fresno. With environmental and water concerns still simmering after a state Supreme Court ruling, the Planning Commission will vote Thursday on whether to recommend approval before supervisors take it up in October.
   

5. Update: Arrow Creek Fire burns 3.5 acres in Fresno County since Aug. 22 (sacbee.com) — A small but long-burning wildfire, the Arrow Creek Fire, has scorched 3.5 acres of federal land in Fresno County since it was first reported on August 22. Officials say the blaze remains active with no reported containment data yet, and the cause is still under investigation, so residents should stay alert for further updates from fire authorities.
