Watch: Maacama Ridge Blaze Scorches Area
Maacama Ridge blaze burned five acres but Cal Fire reported that crews stopped the fire's forward spread by 8 p.m.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters fought off a vegetation fire Thursday afternoon about half-way between Healdsburg and Geyserville, one of several that burned around Sonoma County.
This fire broke out in the 5800 block of Maacama Ridge Road and scorched several acres.
The Maacama fire started slowly, burning across 3 acres, but spread to 5 acres by 5 p.m., when Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa ordered a helicopter, a hand crew, and two additional fire engines.

Cal Fire reported shortly after 5 p.m. that crews had contained the fire at 20 percent, and the forward progress had been stopped.
Firefighters remained in the area for the next few hours. By 8 p.m. the fire was fully extinguished and Cal Fire reported that 2.58 acres had burned.
