• La Mesa Man Sentenced 10 Years For Kidnapping His Estranged Wife (patch.com) — A La Mesa man has been sentenced to just over 10 years in prison for kidnapping his estranged wife, beating her, and driving her from La Mesa into Mexico. Federal prosecutors say she tried to escape while being driven around town, and passersby called 911 before Mexican and U.S. authorities intervened at the border.
   

• California farm recalls eggs because of possible salmonella (hanfordsentinel.com) — If you buy eggs in La Mesa, be aware that certain Happy Hens organic shell eggs sold at Frazier Farms Market locations, including La Mesa, have been recalled over possible salmonella contamination.
