LONG BEACH, CA — A Long Beach man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of Kenneth Shannon, whose body was found with suspicious injuries earlier this month, police said.
Unrico Sims, 30, was arrested after the Long Beach Police Department's SWAT team served a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of Chestnut Avenue, according to LBPD. Police said homicide detectives identified Sims during their investigation as the suspect responsible for Shannon's killing. Sims was booked for murder and his bail was set at $2 million.
Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration, police said. No charges had been announced by prosecutors as of Wednesday. The arrest comes nearly four weeks after Shannon, a 33-year-old Long Beach resident, was found dead in the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue.
