Detectives are still working to identify the driver and are examining speed as a possible factor, while urging anyone with information to contact LBPD or LA Crime Stoppers.

4. Long Beach to rename street near LBCC to honor former mayor Beverly O'Neill (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach leaders have voted to rename E. Lew Davis Street near Long Beach City College's Liberal Arts Campus to "Beverly O'Neill Way," honoring the former mayor's decades of service in education and civic life. The change, backed by the City Council and LBCC trustees, will cost about $3,000 for new signage and will highlight O'Neill's legacy for students and visitors.
