Richardson Leads Price Long Beach Mayoral Race: Preliminary Results

As of 9:45 a.m. Wednesday the polls showed Richardson leading with over half of the vote.

LONG BEACH, CA — Election day has come and gone in Long Beach, and Rex Richardson led the race for Long Beach Mayor as of 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. (Scroll for real-time results below.)

Councilwoman Suzie Price and Vice Mayor Rex Richardson ran for Mayor of Long Beach after the seat was vacated by Robert Garcia who is running for Congress in the 42nd District.

Preliminary results from election night showed Richardson with 30,321 votes for Mayor and Price with 26,462 votes.

The most recent results from the Los Angeles County Clerk were updated at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday morning and reflect 23.4 percent of the county's votes.

The next ballots counted will be a random selection of batches for the one percent manual tally that will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:15 a.m.

According to the County Clerk's office, voters should expect to see more updates between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. A full timeline for the Canvass Update Schedule is available at this link.

The final results won't be released until December, according to the schedule.

Price currently serves as the District 3 representative for the Long Beach City Council. She earned her Bachelor's degree in political science and her Master's of Public Administration at California State University, Long Beach and her Juris Doctor degree at Santa Clara Law School.

Richardson is the Vice Mayor of Long Beach and currently represents District 9 in the City Council. He received endorsements from multiple city officials like Mayor Robert Garcia and Vice President of Long Beach Unified School District Megan Kerr.
