Menifee Police To Conduct DUI Patrol Operation On Thursday (patch.com subscription) — Menifee police will run DUI saturation patrols on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., targeting impaired drivers on local streets. Officers stress that DUIs are fully preventable and include impairment from alcohol, drugs, and some medications. Residents are urged to plan sober rides and understand penalties can reach $13,500 plus license suspension.
   

2. The car in your garage can power your house (uci.edu) — Menifee homeowners are helping test cutting-edge vehicle-to-home technology that lets an electric car power their houses during outages and expensive peak-rate hours. UC Irvine, Kia, KB Home, and Wallbox chose a Menifee subdivision as a living lab, installing EVs and bidirectional chargers while working through regulatory hurdles with Southern California Edison that could shape how local residents use their cars for home energy in the future.
   

3. Boy, 13, Killed in Menifee Crash Involving Fleeing Burglary Suspect on Holland Avenue (pacificattorneygroup.com) — A 13-year-old Menifee boy riding an e-bike was killed Monday when a fleeing burglary suspect ran a red light at Holland Avenue and Evans Road during a brief police pursuit. Officers and CAL Fire tried to save him, but he later died. The driver, a 21-year-old Temecula woman, was arrested on multiple felony charges, and the CHP is investigating.
   

4. NTSB Prelim: Cameron Balloons A-315 (aero-news.net) — A recent NTSB preliminary report details a fatal hot air balloon incident near Menifee, where a Cameron Balloons A-315 flight ended with one passenger jumping from the basket at about 4,500 feet. The pilot and another passenger were unhurt, and the balloon itself wasn't damaged. Investigators say the jump happened without warning as the pilot was retrieving champagne.
