Menlo Park Runs Out Of Home Electrification Rebate Funding

Other incentives remain available to help eligible residents switch from gas appliances to electric alternatives.

MENLO PARK, CA — The city of Menlo Park has committed all available funding for its home electrification matching rebates, ending new awards under the program.

The city announced last week that the rebates are fully subscribed but directed residents to other financial incentives through WestLight Energy, formerly Peninsula Clean Energy, according to its home electrification webpage.

Eligible low-income households can still receive assistance through the city's Home Upgrade Services program, which helps residents replace gas appliances with electric alternatives and make electrical upgrades.

Qualifying households may receive improvements worth up to $50,000, depending on program requirements and available funding.

WestLight Energy administers the program, which offers upgrades such as electric heat pumps, water heaters and electrical panels. It began in Belle Haven in 2024 before expanding to eligible homeowners and renters throughout Menlo Park.

The city's broader electrification initiative received $4.5 million in state funding through the California Energy Commission. The funding supports several efforts to help residents reduce their reliance on natural gas, including appliance replacements and assistance for renters.

Menlo Park also partners with local organizations on electric vehicle rebates and e-bike vouchers.

According to the city's September update, it had spent approximately $2.52 million across its electrification programs.

Residents can review eligibility requirements and current incentives through the city's home electrification webpage.
