Local school districts are also banning higher-powered e-bikes and similar devices from campuses, while police may increase their presence around schools to help manage traffic and protect students.

• Redwood City Police admit to improper street camera data sharing (almanacnews.com) — Redwood City police disclosed nearly 100 improper searches of license plate reader data and are now rethinking their contract with vendor Flock Safety, amid community concern over privacy and oversight. Menlo Park is among several Bay Area cities whose agencies also found unauthorized ALPR searches, so any new safeguards or regional standards could influence how local police here use this technology going forward.
