1 Child Killed, Another Critically Injured In Perris Crash

A total of five people were injured in the fatal crash.

PERRIS, CA — An 8-year-old girl was killed and five other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Perris, including one who remained hospitalized in critical condition Sunday.

The crash was reported around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Rider Street and Ramona Expressway, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Responding deputies found five occupants injured in one of the vehicles— two suffering from life-threatening injuries — and the driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle also injured.

All involved people were rushed to hospitals.

The 8-year-old girl identified as Camila Leon of Perris was later pronounced dead while at the hospital, and a second juvenile passenger remained hospitalized in critical condition Sunday, according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's Perris station Traffic Reconstruction Team assumed the investigation. As of Sunday, no arrests had been made and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
