• Contracts For New Section 8 Housing In Murrieta OK'd By County; City Pushes For Local Control (patch.com) — Murrieta residents are seeing plans advance for the Jefferson Family Apartments, an 81-unit Section 8 project on Jefferson Avenue backed by county-approved financing and state and federal funds. At the same time, Murrieta council members Lori Stone and Ron Holliday are leading a statewide push through the League of California Cities to restore more local control over housing and land-use decisions, arguing the city has already exceeded its state housing quota.
