Evacuation warnings for areas between Steele Canyon Road, Wragg Canyon Road and Highway 128 were issued, then lifted by midafternoon. Wastewater testing in the city of Napa also recently detected measles, underscoring renewed risk as cases climb across California and nationwide. Local families are urged to review measles vaccination recommendations, especially for children and travelers.

Napa council to consider final environmental report for Five-Way Intersection (napavalleyregister.com) — Napa drivers and nearby residents face big changes as the City Council prepares to review the final environmental report for the long-debated Five-Way Intersection Project at Silverado Trail, Third Street, Coombsville Road and East Avenue. The $27 million plan would replace the crash-prone signalized junction with two roundabouts, but also requires acquiring and demolishing a longtime family home known for its holiday displays.

The $475,000 effort, approved by the Napa City Council, uses durable materials and culturally inspired patterns to highlight bulb-outs and a planned pedestrian scramble, with officials watching how the changes affect walkability and traffic safety.
   

5. New California law could be lifeline for wineries in crisis — but is hitting local roadblocks (sfchronicle.com) — New state rules now let small Napa vineyards host up to 36 tastings and events a year, but Napa County's stricter caps on attendance and daylight-only hours are limiting what wineries can do. Local growers describe how these events are becoming essential for survival during a wine industry slump, and how they're pushing county officials to relax regulations further.
