Roller-skate night in Grass Valley to support local veterans (theunion.com) — Nevada City residents can lace up for a roller-skate night this Saturday in nearby Grass Valley, where a local Nevada City skate shop owner is helping host a community fundraiser for veterans. With $10 admission, music from local DJs, and skate rentals available, organizers aim to create a safe, all-ages space while giving back to those who served. 
2. Dive Into Underwater Archaeology and More as Sci Pub Returns this Fall (yubanet.com) — Nevada City residents can look forward to the return of Sierra Streams Institute's free Sci Pub science talks this fall, with sessions on underwater archaeology, bat conservation, and fermentation. Events run 6–7 p.m. on select Tuesdays at Gold Vibe Kombuchary in nearby Grass Valley, giving locals a relaxed way to learn from regional scientists and ask questions over a drink.
3. SYRCL's Wild & Scenic Film Festival Marks 25 Years with Commemorative Poster Art by Fest Co-Founder Kathy Dotson and a New Music Partnership with Madcap Records (yubanet.com) — Nevada City will again share hosting duties for SYRCL's 25th Wild & Scenic Film Festival, returning February 18–22 with new commemorative poster art and an expanded live music partnership with Nevada City–founded Madcap Music Group. Local musicians can submit original tracks for a special vinyl soundtrack through October 21, with part of the proceeds supporting Yuba River protection.
4. Nevada County Arts & Culture names Robin Garcia as next Executive Director (yubanet.com) — Nevada City's arts landscape will be shaped by new Nevada County Arts & Culture executive director Robin Garcia, who takes over October 1 and oversees the Grass Valley–Nevada City Cultural District. Garcia plans to listen closely to local artists, residents, and leaders as the county's six-year Culture Forward plan moves from planning into action.
