2 Killed When BMW Plows Intersection ID'd As Mother, Daughter

STANTON, CA — The two women were killed when they were hit by a BMW in Orange County Monday night were identified as a mother and daughter, police said.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls around 9 p.m. reporting that a BMW had struck two pedestrians at the intersection of Magnolia and Cerritos avenues in Stanton, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Upon arrival, deputies found two women down in the street who had been hit by the vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital where they died of their injuries.

They were later identified as 34-year-old Gabriela Cruz and 65-year-old Amadelia Cruz.

Family members told KLTA Amadelia and her husband had flown in from Guatemala to visit Gabby.

"She was kind, beautiful and just everything you want in a person," Gabby's cousin, Amy, told KTLA. "My aunt too. It shouldn't have happened."

A GoFundMe for Gabby and Amadelia's family has been created in order to offset funeral costs and more. As of Thursday evening, $600 out of a $13,000 goal had been raised.
