Bicyclist, 60, Killed In Hit-And-Run In Santa Ana

Police asked for the public's help finding a motorist who killed a 60-year-old bicyclist in a hit-and-run crash.

SANTA ANA, CA — Santa Ana police Saturday were asking the public for help locating a motorist who killed a 60-year-old bicyclist in a hit-and-run accident.

Police received multiple calls about a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Standard Avenue and Warner Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. Friday, the Santa Ana Police Department reported.

"Officers, along with Orange County Fire Authority, responded to the scene and located the bicyclist, Francois Primeau of Irvine, lying in the roadway with significant injuries," the department said. "Despite life-saving efforts, Primeau was pronounced deceased at the scene by OCFA."

Based on the preliminary investigation, officials said Primeau was riding his bicycle through the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Warner. Immediately following the collision, the driver fled the scene, they added.
