Teen On E-Motorcycle Leads Officer On Chase Through Orange County Park

ORANGE, CA — A teen on an electric motorcycle led an Orange County police officer on a chase after the officer attempted to stop him at a park, police said Thursday.

"I would stop if I were you," the motorcycle officer can be heard saying in a video showing the chase published to Facebook by the Orange Police Department. "What's mom and dad going to say when they see you, when I show them this?"

The video shows the officer chasing the rider through a parking lot, over curbs and down dirt trails.

"Oh, look, I'm still here," the officer tells the rider in the video. "I know you go to school around here. I'm going to find you."

The officer eventually catches up to the rider on a paved road and uses a guardrail to force the teen to stop.

The video then shows the rider sitting on a curb as the officer lists nine violations, including:

  • Evading a police officer/fleeing.
  • Violating a municipal code.
  • Riding in an unsafe manner in a city park on a motorized vehicle.
  • Not having license plates on the motorcycle.
  • Not wearing a helmet.
  • Not having a valid license or motorcycle license.
  • Not having registration.
  • Not having mirrors for the motorcycle.

"We heard you loud and clear about e-bikes at Grijalva Park," police said on social media. "Our motor officers have been spending extra time in the area addressing illegal unsafe e-bike riding."
