Calif. firefighter/paramedics perform first field blood transfusion (ems1.com) — Pasadena firefighter-paramedics have performed their first-ever field blood transfusion, using a new prehospital whole blood program to stabilize a man critically injured after being struck and dragged by an SUV. The Pasadena Fire Department invested about $100,000 in equipment and intensive training, partnering with Huntington Hospital and the LA DROP pilot to bring military-style lifesaving care directly to local streets.

Marshall's Maria Teresa McDonald Named to 2027 Rose Court (pasadenanow.com) — Pasadena's Thurgood Marshall Secondary School is celebrating senior Maria Teresa McDonald's selection to the 2027 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Royal Court. Supported by classmates, staff, and family, she'll represent Pasadena at nearly 100 events and ride in the 2027 Rose Parade and attend the Rose Bowl Game as an ambassador for the community.
   

4. West Coast Songwriters 46th Annual Music Conference in Oct (musicconnection.com) — Songwriters and music lovers in Pasadena can join the West Coast Songwriters' 46th Annual Music Conference at Los Angeles College of Music from October 9–11. The weekend promises panels on streaming, songwriter rights, AI, and collaboration, plus networking and an Industry Night aimed at helping creators build sustainable careers.
   

5. Lake Hughes Animal Rescue Operator Pleads Not Guilty to Array of Charges (mynewsla.com) — Pasadena Humane helped relocate more than 300 animals seized from an allegedly inhumane Lake Hughes rescue operation, described as the largest companion-animal rescue in county history. The operator has pleaded not guilty to dozens of cruelty and code-violation charges and faces a potential lengthy prison term as a November hearing approaches.
