• Free Redlands program to feature Vineyard Touring Opera Company (redlandsdailyfacts.com) — A free evening of opera is coming to the Contemporary Club on Eureka Street in Redlands at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, as part of A.K. Smiley Public Library's Smiley LIVE! series. Vineyard Touring Opera Company will bring four singers and a pianist, plus a Q&A, giving residents an easy, no-cost way to experience live opera close to home.

• Redlands Chamber Dog Jog returns Oct. 5 with costumes, adoptable dogs and more (communityforwardredlands.com) — Smiley Park in downtown Redlands will fill with dogs and their people on Sunday, Oct. 25, for the ninth annual Redlands Chamber Dog Jog benefiting the Redlands Animal Shelter. With a dog-friendly course, K-9 demos, costume contests, adoptable pets and $30 adult registration supporting the shelter, it's a family-friendly way to support local animals.

• One arrested, 33 cited during Redlands DUI checkpoint (communityforwardredlands.com) — Redlands police arrested one driver on suspicion of DUI and cited 33 others during a six-hour checkpoint at Brookside Avenue and Eureka Street on Sept. 25. Officers screened 632 vehicles, issuing citations for license issues and other violations, and say checkpoint locations are chosen based on past impaired-driving crashes, with state grant funding supporting the operation.
