• Paradise Beach offers an urban oasis along Sacramento's American River (kcra.com) — Paradise Beach along Sacramento's American River offers a free, easy-to-reach escape with sandy shoreline, walking and biking trails, and loaner life jackets for swimmers. Tucked near East Sacramento's River Park neighborhood and Glenn Hall Park, it's open daily from sunrise to sunset for dog walks, paddling, sunbathing, and relaxed riverside strolls without leaving town.

• Sacramento event honors Negro League players and showcases high school athletes (kcra.com) — Sacramento baseball fans can honor Negro League history this weekend as the Roots and Rising Stars Foundation hosts its annual Honorary Negro League Game, featuring Black high school athletes from the Sacramento region. A meet-and-greet runs Saturday at Baker Family Wines, followed by Sunday's game at 1 p.m. at Sacramento State's John Smith Field, with former Negro League players sharing stories and signing autographs.

• After Sacramento Bee cuts, McClatchy ramps up its AI strategy (amedpost.com) — Layoffs at The Sacramento Bee have cut at least 10 journalists even as parent company McClatchy expands an AI-driven Content Innovation Lab to repurpose stories and test new audiences.
