2 San Diego County Lottery Players Win Combined $8M

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two California Lottery players won a combined $8 million on Scratchers tickets purchased in San Diego County, according to recently announced lottery results.

Juan Lopez won $7 million, the top prize in the Crossword Xtreme game, with a ticket purchased at a Chevron station at 3272 Heritage Road in Chula Vista.

Scott Emerson won $1 million playing the $1,000,000 Money Mania game. His winning ticket was purchased at Imperial Liquor at 3106 E. 16th St. in National City.

Lopez was one of two players statewide recently announced as $7 million Crossword Xtreme winners. The other winning ticket was sold in Bakersfield.

The Crossword Xtreme Scratchers game costs $30 and features three crossword puzzles, prize multipliers of up to 50 times the amount, four bonus words and a $500 bonus spot. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 2.72, according to the California Lottery.

Emerson was among six players who each won the $1 million top prize in the Money Mania game. The other winning tickets were purchased in Stockton, Los Angeles, Carson, Dos Palos and Pomona.

The $1,000,000 Money Mania Scratchers game costs $10 and offers up to 20 chances to win, including prize multipliers of up to 50 times the amount. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.42, according to the California Lottery.

The California Lottery also recently announced five $2 million winners in its Instant Prize Crossword game, with winning tickets sold in La Crescenta, Visalia, Lathrop, Stockton and North Hollywood.

Proceeds from California Lottery ticket sales provide supplemental funding for public education across the state.
