New Gorillas Join Troops At San Diego Zoo, Safari Park (patch.com) — Families visiting the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park will soon meet two new western lowland gorillas, including a young male joining the bachelor troop and a new silverback leading the family group. These arrivals are part of a major conservation breeding effort, highlighting San Diego's role in protecting critically endangered gorillas and supporting global wildlife programs.
   

2. 2 Dead In Plane Crash At Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport In San Diego (patch.com) — San Diegans are learning more about a deadly small-plane crash at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport that killed both people aboard a Cessna 172 Monday evening. The airport was temporarily closed as about 30 San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel put out a runway fire, contained a fuel spill and turned the scene over to federal investigators from the FAA and NTSB.
   

3. ICE arrests 1 person, chases another onto San Diego City College campus (nbcsandiego.com) — ICE agents stopped a vehicle near San Diego City College Tuesday morning, arresting the driver and briefly chasing a student passenger onto campus before leaving without further contact. College officials condemned the intrusion, emphasized that campus police did not assist, and are offering counseling and legal support to affected students while classes continue as scheduled.
   

4. Research Laboratory Associate - Dermatology (ucsd.edu) — A new Research Laboratory Associate position in dermatology is open at UC San Diego Health Sciences, with applications due by September 22. The role involves mouse colony management, lab safety oversight, and advanced molecular biology techniques, and offers a competitive salary range based on experience and qualifications. Local candidates with relevant lab and animal experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
   

5. Pool party in 4S Ranch draws hundreds of teenagers, prompts police response and assault investigation (10news.com) — A massive teen pool party in 4S Ranch, in northern San Diego County, grew so out of control that neighbors called police, who responded with multiple units and a helicopter and cited the homeowner. San Diego police are also investigating a nearby assault on a teenager, and the homeowner says she has now removed her pool from the Swimply rental platform.
