• Death of man, 50, at San Diego Central Jail under investigation (sandiegouniontribune.com) — A 50-year-old man died Saturday night at San Diego Central Jail, becoming at least the seventh person to die this year in San Diego County Sheriff's custody. Officials say he was found unresponsive in his cell and could not be revived, and multiple agencies are now investigating as county leaders continue pushing jail reforms.
   

• CHP includes San Diego in Amber Alert for missing Salinas teen (timesofsandiego.com) — San Diego County residents are being asked to watch for a missing 14-year-old Salinas girl after the CHP extended an Amber Alert across Southern California, including our area. Authorities believe she is traveling with a 38-year-old man in a white Nissan Altima without license plates and urge anyone who spots them to call 911 immediately.
   

• Supervisors OK Grant for East SD County Small Businesses (10news.com) — Small businesses in East San Diego County will soon be able to apply for revolving loans of up to $50,000 through a new county-backed fund. Approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors, the program targets cities like El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and Santee, pairing financing with technical assistance to support expansion and job creation.
