Wanted Felon Arrested In North County After License Plate Camera Alert

SAN MARCOS, CA — A man wanted on two felony warrants was arrested over the weekend after deputies located his vehicle in northern San Diego County using a license plate recognition alert, authorities said.

Deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station learned Saturday that 52-year-old Ivan Chi was wanted on felony warrants for identity theft and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Deputies received notification around 8:30 a.m. from the agency's license plate recognition camera system that Chi's vehicle was near West Mission Road and Barham Drive, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found the vehicle and detained Chi. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession, sheriff's officials said.

Chi was arrested on the outstanding warrants and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
