Crews Pull Body From San Francisco Bay: Report

The body was turned over to the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to an SFGate report.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An investigation is underway to determine the identity of a body pulled from the San Francisco Bay on Sunday evening, according to an SFGate report.

It's unclear how long the body has been in the bay, or how it got there.

Crews with the San Francisco Fire Department responded near the Ferry Building in the Embarcadero area around 7:37 p.m. and found the body, according to the report.

The body was turned over to the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will determine the person's identity and the cause of death, according to the report.

The news comes as one passenger remains missing from the sinking of the Volare, a 49-foot cabin cruiser, on July 14. That passenger is presumed dead, according to authorities.

The bodies of two other people who were missing in the aftermath of the boat sinking were found in the bay over the last few weeks.
