1. Ripley's Believe It or Not! At San Francisco Wharf To Close (patch.com) — San Franciscans are preparing to say goodbye to Ripley's Believe It or Not! at Fisherman's Wharf, which will close before the end of the year after nearly six decades as a waterfront attraction. The company plans to sell several San Francisco–themed exhibits, including a microscopic Golden Gate Bridge and a Janis Joplin portrait, and hints it may someday return to the city.
   

2. Man Admits To Gang Shooting That Wounded 9 In San Francisco: Prosecutors (patch.com) — Residents in San Francisco's Mission District are seeing legal closure after a Richmond man admitted to a 2023 gang-related shooting that wounded nine people during a party near a clothing store. Working with San Francisco prosecutors, he accepted a decades-long prison sentence for firing into a public area, which officials say underscores efforts to curb gang violence in the city.
   

3. Clean Streets and Fair Play: Contractors must pay street cleaners a prevailing wage (missionlocal.org) — San Francisco has unanimously approved the Clean Streets and Fair Pay Act, requiring city contractors to pay street cleaners a prevailing wage comparable to unionized Public Works employees. The change aims to close pay gaps, improve safety protections, and preserve neighborhood ambassador programs in areas like the Tenderloin, Mission, SoMa, Outer Richmond, Castro, and Hayes Valley.
   

4. New Waymo program to give passengers bus fare credit with their ride (sfchronicle.com) — Waymo is rolling out a new program that will eventually give riders bus fare credit when they transfer from its robotaxis to public transit, including for San Francisco users. As the company expands service and unveils wheelchair-accessible Ojai vehicles, city officials and residents continue to raise safety concerns about stalled cars, blocked emergency vehicles, and the need for stronger federal rules.
   

5. Dead Kennedys Guitarist East Bay Ray Diagnosed With Parkinson's Disease, Plans to Continue Touring (rockumweb.com) — San Franciscans are learning that East Bay Ray, founding guitarist of hometown punk legends Dead Kennedys, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease but still plans to tour. The band, formed in San Francisco in 1978, is keeping its October 9 show at the Regency Ballroom on the schedule, giving local fans a chance to see Ray perform.
