Newsom Declares California Emergency as Potentially Historic El Niño Looms (ntd.com) — San Clemente has declared a local emergency after powerful surf and tides damaged its pier, flooded homes, and exposed sewer lines and utilities, just as Gov. Newsom issues a statewide El Niño emergency. County and state actions could speed repairs, bring disaster aid, and bolster protections for the rail corridor, beaches, and coastal neighborhoods ahead of potentially severe winter storms.
   

4. Orange County girls volleyball Top 10, Sept. 21 (fresnobee.com) — Orange County's latest girls volleyball rankings include several matches involving San Clemente High, which beat Edison and lost to San Juan Hills in recent play. Local fans can see how the Tritons stack up against Mater Dei, Newport Harbor, and other top programs as league races heat up.
