Books for children of Samoa

Rheumatic Heart disease testing saves hundreds of children

For 11 years, Leslie & Marc Barkdull of Pleasanton, Ca have been helping the children of Samoa overcome Rheumatic Heart disease which is prevalent in the country.

Associated with the BYU effort to eradicate this problem they collect children’s books to encourage children to get tested. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPVjiGlJ5Jc)

This year, 10,000 books have been gathered, but they are still 5,000 short of their goal. Most of these children have no books and are excited to go home with 3 books of their own and hundreds of lives have been saved.
