• San Mateo Superior Court Bench Elects Presiding Judge and Assistant Presiding Judge (ca.gov) — Leadership at the San Mateo County Superior Court is changing, with Judge Rachel Holt elected as the next presiding judge and Judge Jeffrey Finigan as assistant presiding judge starting January 2027. Both have long careers serving San Mateo County, particularly in family and criminal law, and court officials say their experience and community focus will guide how local cases are managed over the next two years.
   

• Seismic activity on Sept. 21: Earthquake close to Pacifica, CA recorded (sacbee.com) — A small 2.3 magnitude earthquake shook part of San Mateo County near Pacifica on Monday evening, with no damage reported but a reminder of our seismic risk. Residents are encouraged to report what they felt to USGS and review basic safety steps like drop, cover, and hold on. • College of San Mateo football player killed in car wreck, two other teammates injured (sfchronicle.com) — A College of San Mateo football player, 19-year-old defensive back Ja'Marion Grace, was killed in a weekend car crash that also seriously injured a teammate from San Mateo. The CSM community is rallying around his family through a GoFundMe and campus support, as players, coaches, and students grieve the loss of a beloved teammate and friend.
