2 Killed In East County Motorcycle Crash

LAKESIDE, CA — A motorcyclist and his passenger were killed early Sunday when their motorcycle veered off an East County road and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. on East Lakeview Road, west of Adlai Road in Lakeside, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 41-year-old San Diego man was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson westbound with a 33-year-old El Cajon woman as his passenger when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation. Authorities said it was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
