Community Invited to Take Part in the Festivities at Merriment on Main Tree Lighting Event (independentvoice.com) — Downtown Vacaville's Merriment on Main tree lighting is set for Dec. 1, and the city is now taking applications for vendors, booths, and performers through Oct. 25. Local businesses and entertainers can apply online, with special coordination for downtown storefronts to keep entrances clear and get included on the event vendor map.

Local Roundup: Vacaville volleyball, flag football defeats Vanden (fresnobee.com) — Vacaville High School's girls volleyball and flag football teams both shut out Vanden, extending undefeated Monticello Empire League starts and setting up more league action against Rodriguez on Thursday. Will C. Wood's flag football squad also picked up a third straight win via forfeit, keeping Vacaville prep sports fans busy with strong local performances and upcoming games.
   

3. Man sentenced for manslaughter in Vacaville man's death (kcra.com) — A Woodland man has been sentenced to six years in state prison after pleading to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Luther Harris, a Vacaville resident missing since 2020. Vacaville police reclassified the case as a homicide in 2025, leading to an arrest and lengthy trial before the plea agreement and recent sentencing.
   

4. Vacaville woman sentenced in embezzlement (thereporter.com) — A Vacaville woman has been sentenced to one year in jail and two years of probation after admitting to grand theft tied to her former employer in San Rafael. She's accused of embezzling about $661,000 over several years and has been ordered to surrender to authorities in early November.
