• Eleven Mile drowning victims who died 8 days apart identified (gazette.com) — An Arvada man, 67-year-old Paul Scanlon, has been identified as one of two people who drowned at Eleven Mile Reservoir this month after his kayak flipped on August 6 despite his wearing a life jacket. Authorities also named a Denver man who died in a separate paddleboarding incident eight days later, and both cases remain under investigation. 
• In Loving Memory of Phyllis Mae (Anselmo) Mariano (krtnradio.com) — Arvada residents are connected to the life of Phyllis Mae Mariano, a longtime Trinidad nurse and dairy operator who spent her later years creating art while living in Arvada and died here on August 2 at age 90. Her story spans decades of medical service, volunteer work, and creative pursuits that touched communities across Colorado and beyond.
