Veteran arts journalist pens play detailing mother's foundational role with the Arvada Citizen (arvadapress.com) — Arvada's own history with the Arvada Citizen newspaper is being honored in a new play about trailblazing reporter and mother Florence Gilbert, written by her son, longtime arts writer John Moore. While the staged readings premiere in Fort Collins, the story centers on Arvada women in the 1970s who balanced family, work, and public service, preserving a fading generation's legacy. 
2. Pomona football grabs win in 'Get Back Game' over Thomas Jefferson at NAAC (coloradopreps.com) — A dominant Pomona High football win at the North Area Athletic Complex in Arvada gave the Panthers a 64-14 bounce‑back victory over Thomas Jefferson. Quarterback Tucker Ingersoll and running back Rylan Berger led an explosive offense that scored on seven straight drives. 3. Bill introduced to expand Radiation Exposure Compensation Act to include Rocky Flats (arvadapress.com) — A new bipartisan bill in Congress would expand federal radiation compensation to include Rocky Flats workers and nearby residents, a change closely watched by many former Arvada-area families affected by cancer. Local advocates, including an ex-Arvada resident and an artist recently featured at the Arvada Center, say the measure offers overdue recognition for communities exposed to nuclear contamination.
4. Popular Park County Recreation Hub Turns Deadly (mountainjackpot.com) — A 67‑year‑old man from Arvada was one of two recent drowning victims at 11 Mile Reservoir, prompting urgent new water‑safety warnings from Park County officials. Authorities say his life jacket didn't fit properly, and another victim wasn't wearing one at all. Residents heading to Colorado's lakes and reservoirs are being urged to wear snug, Coast Guard‑approved flotation devices and avoid alcohol on the water.
