Neighbors described loud crashes and explosives-like sounds as Denver police's street racing team moved in to clear the area. Officers say such takeovers are now a higher enforcement priority, though safety concerns can limit on-the-spot arrests.
   

4. Denver mayor safe after security detail draws gun on knife-wielding man; "Over in a matter of seconds," office says (cbsnews.com) — A member of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston's security detail briefly drew his gun on a man carrying what turned out to be a plastic knife near Union Station last week. The guard ordered the man to drop the weapon, then holstered his gun when the blade was revealed as fake, and no one was hurt or arrested.
