CT State Police Report 1 Fatality Over Holiday Weekend

Traffic statistics for the Memorial Day weekend were released Tuesday.

The holiday weekend saw one fatal accident among 296 collisions on roadways under Connecticut State Police jurisdiction.

State police on Tuesday released their final traffic statistics for Memorial Day weekend, which includes the timeframe from 12 a.m. on Friday, May 22 through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

The single fatality happened in Windsor on I-91 on Monday, in a crash which killed a 26-year-old motorcyclist, according to state police.

Of the 296 motor vehicle collisions, 14 involved injuries, with the one fatality, state police said.

State police said they responded to 4,017 calls for service and made 810 traffic stops.

Traffic service incidents, where state police provided traffic-related assistance such as debris removal, or help with disabled or hazardous motor vehicles, included 147 cases.

State police said they handled 20 driving under the influence incidents.
