Avon Community Fund Accepting Grant Applications This Summer

AVON, CT — The Avon Community Fund at the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation is accepting applications for grants supporting projects that strengthen the well-being, vibrancy and resilience of the Avon community.

Organizations seeking funding have until 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10 to submit applications.

According to the foundation, grant proposals should align with the fund's priorities of enhancing the quality of life for Avon residents.

The Avon Community Fund Committee, made up of volunteer Avon residents, helps identify community needs, establish grant priorities, and review applications before making funding recommendations to the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation.

During the most recent grant cycle, the fund awarded more than $60,000 to 11 local organizations, with individual grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000.

The awards supported programs designed to expand access to services and strengthen the community.

The Avon Community Fund is one of 29 community funds established by the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation in 2019.

Since launching the program, the foundation has awarded more than 1,000 grants totaling more than $4 million through the end of 2025 to projects benefiting communities across the region.

The initiative began with a $100,000 investment in each participating town in 2019 and has since received additional investments in 2021 and 2025 to support both immediate grantmaking and long-term endowment funding.
