6 Displaced By House Fire In Bethel: Fire Officials

The fire was reported Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel Volunteer Firefighters doused a two-alarm fire on Thursday afternoon at a home on Juniper Road, according to authorities.

No injuries were reported in the 3:15 p.m. blaze, but the occupants — four adults and two children — have been temporarily displaced due to damage to the home.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy fire on the second floor, which extended out the rear and up into the overhang, and into the attic. The occupants had evacuated the house when firefighters arrived, and the family cat was also recused.

The second alarm was immediately called in for a "working house fire," in which four hose lines were deployed to fight. Members of the Stony Hill Fire Department extended an aerial ladder to ventilate the roof, and ground ladders were placed in the rear of the building for additional venting.

Two nearby hydrants had to be tapped for water supply.

"Approximately 40 firefighters and EMTs from Bethel and Stony Hill operated at the scene with another 15 members covering the Bethel and Stony Hill stations in the event of a second call," officials wrote on Facebook. "Mutual Aid came from Redding, Dodgingtown, Botsford, Hawleyville, and Brookfield, as well as the city of Danbury’s Career Department and two of Danbury’s volunteer companies."

The fire was under control approximately one hour into the operation, but firefighters were at the scene for more than two hours, extinguishing the fire and searching for "hotspots" behind walls.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
