Suspects detained after shots fired, crash in Bridgeport (wtnh.com) — Bridgeport police detained several shooting suspects Friday evening after ShotSpotter detected over 20 rounds near Grandview Avenue and the suspects crashed at Pembroke and Maple streets. No injuries were reported, but officers are continuing to investigate, and residents near the East Side corridors may notice an increased police presence as the case develops.

Bethel football opens season with 34-14 win over Bassick in Bridgeport program's SWC debut (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport football fans saw Bassick make its SWC debut at home, falling 34-14 to Bethel in a game that still felt like a fresh start for the Lions.
